Crosstown is a term that is really only used by realtors, but is starting to catch on as the “name” for this new area of Downtown Vancouver. The reason it is tagged Crosstown is because it is the cross area between Downtown, Gastown and Chinatown. It is a very small pocket of newer developments that will continue to increase in popularity as the Downtown East Side continues its gentrification. A great area for mid-long term investment.

Crosstown is basically only 4 square blocks that runs North along Cambie St from Dunsmuir St to West Pender St. It then turns right and heads East along Pender to Carrall St (the entrance to Chinatown). Hang a right again and go South along Carrall to Expo Blvd, and then right again on Expo until you hit the Stadium skytrain station in one block.

There are 3 new developments and 2 older developments that basically make up the entire area. New: The Taylor (550 Taylor), Firenze, and Espania. The two older developments are International Village and The Europa, both around 10 years old.

The great thing about Crosstown is its location. It is literally steps to GM Place, BC Place, Costco, Tinsletown Shopping Centre and Movie Theatre, Gastown, Skytrain, Chinatown, and the Seawall. Andy Livingstone Park makes up a large part of this area as well with a tranquil water feature and the large all weather sports field.
